This pan and zoom camera was recently (and finally) hooked into the UIC Police console so they can now control the pan and zoom functions live.
At a "Safety and Security" meeting between UIC Police, students and staff, we were told this camera can see the bike racks. If you go to the UIC Police station at 1401 S Morgan, you can see an HDTV showing video from some of the pan and zoom surveillance cameras.
The quality is very good – I watched the video feed of one of the camera’s on the top of University Hall and it can zoom in 28 floors below and identify people walking on the sidewalk.
